Values and culture

Who we are
We are a democratically-run, member-owned, housing-focused organisation that was founded for the benefit of LGBTQ+ people.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to understand the national picture of LGBTQ+ housing needs and positively respond to this by building affordable homes and community spaces of belonging, for those of us who need it.

We create accessible environments where our community can live safely, support one another, and socialise in a place they can call their own.

We are 100% community-led, entirely non-profit, and we will be owned by the community, forever.

Purpose
To provide homes where LGBTQ+ people can live safely, joyfully, free from oppression.

Values
We work with our community, not for our community.

We are focussed on providing safe, joyful, and accessible homes for LGBTQ+ people and allies who may have similar experiences of stigmatisation, discrimination, social exclusion, or prejudice.

We actively celebrate difference and diversity, prioritising inclusivity and representation at our core. We reflect the diversity of our community and ensure everyone is valued, supported, and listened to.

We are a transparent and democratic organisation that opposes and strives to dismantle unjust social hierarchies – even when they exist within our community. We challenge inequalities and imbalances in power, in specific institutions and in society at large, regarding housing or any other issue affecting LGBTQ+ people.

Culture
Motivated by love, led by community, governed by equals, open and accessible to all, accountable to members, raising our consciousness, frequently self-critical and self-aware, crossing borders and binaries, communicating across generations, sustainable for our future.
